Been Alone so Long / Chris Judge Smith, sang by Peter Hammill
-------------------------------------------------------------

From "Nadir's Big Change" and "The Love Songs" (maybe Democrazy by Smith?)

A great song. Most of the chord are correct, but the solo sax should be
researched some more, it's a bit obscure to me, but maybe I'l find it, or
better: one of my better-playing friends would find it for me.
Generaly: There is a basic chord sequence in every verse, which is a bit
longer on the 3rd verse. There is also a second sequence in the sax solo.
Some of the lyrics typed here were based on Guido Hogan's TEX File - Thanx!
If I'll have the time I'll tab the complete solo sax - for guitar... Yuck!

Chords:
G - 3-2-0-0-0-3
D - x-x-0-2-3-2
C - x-3-2-0-1-0
Em - 0-2-2-0-0-0
F - 1-3-3-2-1-1
Am - 0-0-2-2-1-0

G
Been alone so long
			 D
that I've forgotten what it's like
C
to feel somebody next to me
	Em
and hear her breathing peacefully
	 D G D C
when I wake up at ni-g-ht.
		   Em
wake up at night

G
Been alone so long
			 D
that I've forgotten what to say--
C
  if I meet somebody who
	 Em
might easily resemble you
  D G D C
I smile, but look a-w-a-y...
		   Em
	I look away.

{Solo Sax:   2F represents play two quarters of F in that bar}

/ 2F C G / 2C 2G / 4Am
/ 2F C G / 2C 2G / 2C 2D
/ 2F C G / 2C 2G / 4Am
/ 2F C G / C G F G / 4D

G
Been alone so long
			 D
that I've forgotten what to do:
C
how to make the whole thing right
	Em
and how to help if she's uptight
	C
and when to run and when to fight...
Em
how to make her stay the night--
	   D G D C
that's if I ever knew-----
		  Em
If I ever knew.

G
Been alone so long
			 D
that I've forgotten what it's like
C
to feel somebody next to me
	Em
and hear her breathing peacefully
	 C G D C
when I wake up at ni-g-ht
				  Em
	   wake up at night

{Sax solo again. Repeat the sax solo chords, then again repeat the chord
sequence of a verse - with the sax playing, and end with the solo chords once
more.}

Have fun! (A rather jolly song about a painful subject, but still enjoyable!)

	Bye
