Playing tips

One of the most beautiful, strong, colourful, brilliant, etc. tracks of the album,
and the guitars are simply overwhelming. Nevertheless, I tried to somehow transcript
it, fully understanding that it is far from being correct (the existing Gouveia
Festival video on Youtube perfectly proves that). You will also be able to understand
that if you refer to the original recording. If after that you would still want to go
through my transcript, feel free to improve it.

         Cm Cm*
And the kid walks up to the stage

Cm G Cm
  with his innocence shining,

Cm Cm* Cm G Cm G Cm
eager to join the parade of the damned.

 G* Cm G* G Cm
Bearing his confidence lightly,

wearing his heart on his sleeve,

  F G F G* a# a g f# d# d c G* G* G* G*
shares out his passion twice nightly

and he begs us to care and believe.

     Cm Cm*
The kid's quickly turning the page

           Cm G Cm
while the juices are flowing,

no assurance he gave worth a damn.

  G* Cm G* G Cm
Playing the room like a trouper,

maybe it's gone to his head.

 F G F G* a# a g f# d# d c G* G * G* G*

the kid gladly climbs in her bed.

help that he hired has been paid off in full.

Sweeps up the laurels and plaudits,

it seems they're no more than his due.

but the kid never thought such things through.

BRIDGE:

     Cm Cm*
The kid's terrified of the stage

Cm G Cm
  with his innocence tarnished,

Cm Cm* Cm G Cm G Cm
buries himself in a hazy half-life.

 G* Cm G* G Cm
Fame's a vindictive and unyielding lover...

 G* Cm G* G Cm G Cm G Cm G Cm
hiding away on his own,

     F G F G* a# a g f# d# d c G* G* G* G*
the kid's not the first to discover

    Cm G Cm G Cm G Cm
applause can't sustain you alone.

 Bbm Bbm C Fm C

         Bbm Bbm C Fm C C Fm C
but the demons that chase him are real enough.

C C# D# C# C
Everything he touched is broken,

C C# D# C# C
everything is damned

          Cm G
and he's running away from the stage

         Cm G Cm
just as fast as he can.
