Peter Hammill - Our Eyes Give it Shape (chords)

Playing tips

In its progress, the initial B chord, which sounds as a single B note,
slightly gets shades of Em. However B is stays as bass note for it.
Since this is eventually my interpretation of this pH song (hence is never
ultimate), I decided to vary B, Em, and Em/b (Em with B as bass note)
combinations. You will need to check with the studio original and decide
how to play.

                  B C B C
I'm getting the idea, I haven't got a clue.

                  B C
As my fabulous career ends up dead in the gutter

                           D
the stars are shining down right on cue.

                     B C B C
It's not much of a shock, it comes as no surprise

                       Em C
that changing all the locks when the horses have bolted

                  B C
is a useless exercise.

                   B C Em/b C
And play it how I will and say it as I may

                          B C
I won't pick that poison pill as a effortless exit

                   B
from the Mystery Play.

D C/c C/b G D C G
I'm so glad I'm still here to see this,

D C/c C/b G D C B
the break of day at the end of the long dark night...

                   Em/b C Em/b C
All's not as it appears, this tale has many twists -

                 Em/b C
but if I wasn't here documenting the story

                           D C
would that mean that the plot did not exist?

                       Em/b C Em/b C
Oh, would it not be absurd if there was no objective state?

                 Em/b C
What if the unobserved always waits, insubstantial,

                        B
till our eyes give it shape?

D C/c C/b G D C G
I'm so glad that I'm still here to see this,

D C/c C/b G D C G
  the whole story is unfolding before my eyes;

D C/c C/b G D C G
I'm so happy I can barely believe it...

D C/c C/b G D C G
this simple pleasure is the mystery spice of life.

B C B
And I am happy just to breathe in the quality of the light.

                  Em C B C
I'm getting the idea, I'm seeing things anew,

                    Em C
it's all becoming clear at this delicate juncture

                            B C
there can be no false nor true.

                  Em C B C
I want to have it all, I want to see the whole thing through...

                    Em C
It's a fifty fifty call: maybe Schrodinger's cat

                           B (?)
could be the Cheshire one too?

D C/c C/b G D C G
I'm so glad that we're both here to see this:

D C/c C/b G D C G
the chink of light in the tunnel of love's embrace.

D C/c C/b G D C G
I'm so happy I can barely believe it

D C/c C/b G D C G
A simple pleasure in the simple things makes life great.
