Chord transcription by Mikayel Abazyan mikayelabazyan@yahoo.com
Playing tips
As it always happens with my transcripts, the small letters with "+" sign in brackets
denote specific notes added to the chord. Also, "-" sign denotes some quick change between
chords, like flowing one into another. Also, usual Cadd9 here presented as C chord with
added "d" note in order to show how the it goes around the base C chord.
This is my personal way of reproducing what my ears hear, so probably some correct way of
writing down the chords exist but has been passing me by all those years. Having not
enough time to contact real professionals and providing those correct chords I decided to
leave it as is. Anyway, since I do this all for my personal needs, I will then be forced to
decode those chords back to my "format". This field of improvement I happily leave for those
of you who can improve them, but for that you should first refer to the original recording.
Everything is there!

C F C
From a distance the coast looks clear...
C F C
drawing closer, I choke the tears back.
F C
So many stories have unravelled down the years
F
and what remains, what's left before me
G F C
is the pricking of the thumbs, the needles and pins...
G
the thinning-out begins
G C
of kith and kin.
C F C
Time and tide, all that's washed away,
C F C
empty postures and lost connections
F C
to memory's echoes, in the end all that endure
F
are single words and gestures.
G F C
All the stories we've served grow serially thin:
G
the walls are falling in
G C
on kith and kin.
C* G F
Witness to the times,
C* G F
which one of us survives?
C F C
Scraped-out pages of scribbled scrawl,
C F C
blunted nibs as the devil drives us,
F C
while mere survival makes a mockery of us all
F
until the last one standing
G F C
cracks the code that we're all carrying within,
G
imprinted on the skin
G C
of kith and kin.
