Peter Hammill - Black Ice (chords)

Playing tips

This song catches at the very first notes of the Intro. Searching for the
way to play them, I came up with playing E chord on 7th fret while doing
(well, trying to do) 8-to-9 fret transition on third string, i.e. 7-7-9-8-9-7
to 7-7-9-9-9-7 (you will understand what I was going to do if you listen to
the original track, of course). However, later I found that very quickly
slide-changing from 4th fret to 5th one on 2nd string while keeping the first
string open gives lovely result. In other words (or in other signs), x-x-x-x-4-0
should be very quickly changed to x-x-x-x-5-0. This is not shown in this
transcript, but is implied all through the song. (Of course, you're right - here
I am referring you to the original once again). Also, "descending chromatically"
is just what I've heard'n'tried to fix on the paper, i.e. not "must" but you can
see if you can.

Why wouldn't you invite your friend who plays guitar and try playing it in duo?

This is no perfect playground

                 E E E E
though stardom's accidental moment has been a blast.
